How My Interior Design Career Has Shaped My Art

I’ve always believed that design is a universal language. Whether in fashion, interiors, or fine art, the same principles apply; proportion, balance, functionality, and innovation. These elements are what turn a simple space into something extraordinary.

 After years in the fashion industry, moving from Manhattan to rural Pennsylvania opened a new chapter for me. For over 25 years, I immersed myself in interior design—a field that is endlessly layered. I designed cabinetry, landscapes, commercial spaces, window treatments, kitchens, baths, even furniture.

 Everywhere you look, everything we touch—it all has a designer’s hand behind it. But the most powerful layer of any space? The art. It can dominate or whisper quietly, bringing mood, energy, and meaning to a room.
